Preview Policy
All CD-ROM and DVD-ROM software products are available for 30-day preview. Previews are limited to the single-user version. Lab Packs, Multi-user sets, Network Licenses, and Site Licenses are not available for 30-day preview. Preview copies include the appropriate software material and print material for the product selected. You will receive an invoice upon shipment of your preview copy. If you decide to keep the material, simply pay the invoice. If you decide to return the material, it must be in salable condition. Additionally, the software must be removed from any computer used to evaluate the software. Contact Customer Service at 800-462-6595 within 30 days of the invoice date to obtain a return authorization. There is no charge for the return.Online materials are available for 120-day preview, by teachers only. There is no charge for provided online access, and your preview access will expire automatically after 120 days.
Three ways to request a 30-Day CD-ROM or DVD-ROM Preview
- Submit an Order Form marked “30-Day Preview” next to the appropriate product and include payment via credit card or check.
- Submit a school purchase order marked “30-Day Preview” next to the appropriate product.
- Call 800-462-6595 and ask for a 30-Day Preview. Please have your purchase order number or credit card number available.
How to request a 120-Day Online Preview
You can either contact your Holt McDougal representative or call 800-462-6595 and ask for Preview Online Access. You will be sent either a registration code or a “Sample Word” that you will need when registering for preview access.Purchasing Multiple Copies
For some software products, School offers convenient ways to purchase multiple copies of software. Check the price list section of the catalog to see which options are available for each software product.- Lab Pack or Multi-user licenses allow you to install and use the software on a number of standalone computers, one computer for each set of the media (CD-ROM or DVD-ROM) provided. Each Lab Pack includes one set of documentation and five or ten sets of media (CD-ROM or DVDROM).
- Site Licenses are available on selected Holt McDougal software products. A Site License allows you to copy or install and use the software on an unlimited number of stand-alone computers within a single building. Site Licenses include one set of documentation and one set of media (CDROM or DVD-ROM).
- Network Licenses are available on selected Holt McDougal software products. A Network License allows you to copy or install and use the software on a shared network server within a single building. Network Licenses include one set of documentation and one set of media (CDROM or DVD-ROM).

No complimentary material or professional in-service training will be provided to schools purchasing materials from any intermediate supplier other than an official state textbook depository.
